Portknockie Harbour is a historic natural harbour with two basins, primarily used by leisure craft but also accommodating some small fishing boats. The harbour features three pontoons in the inner basin, offering berthing for up to 50 boats, and is accessible to small boats at all states of tide. A notable feature of the harbour is its open-air swimming pool, a popular spot during the summer months.

Ferghas' Adventures

Ferghas, an intrepid explorer, recently discovered the serene beauty of Portknockie Harbour and its accompanying Sea Pool, a true hidden gem along the coast. He was immediately captivated by the picturesque harbour, adorned with an abundance of fascinating rock formations and intriguing cave structures that beckoned further investigation. But the crown jewel was undoubtedly the Sea Pool itself, a large stone basin perfect for a refreshing dip. The entire area exuded a tranquil charm, making it an idyllic spot to simply unwind, perhaps enjoying a peaceful picnic or savouring a traditional chippy with the sound of the waves as a soundtrack. Ferghas had taken the opportunity to take a portion of chips down to the harbour with him and enjoyed watching all those around. Kids swimming in the pool, some on paddle boards in the harbour and many others just looking around for crevasses to explore. He ate his delicious chips and put the rubbish in the bin where it should go then took a small dip himself. The water was cool on his hoofs and a bath always did him good. Time to walk it off he thought and he set off dripping wet but very much happier for having the little dip.

This is my favourite harbour to visit, so many caves to explore and if you aren't keen on being in the open Sea it has a "Sea" pool for a dip 🐮
