Ferghas' Adventures
One breezy morning, Ferghas the Highland Cow trotted down to Roseisle Beach, his hooves making soft prints in the sand. He was on a mission—to find the perfect shell for his collection. As he sniffed and snuffled along the shoreline, a curious squeak caught his ear.
Nestled between two rocks was a wide-eyed seal pup, blinking up at him with surprise.
“Hello there!” Ferghas said, lowering his shaggy head. “I’m Ferghas. Are you lost?”
The seal pup wiggled its flippers. “Not lost—just waiting for Mum. She’s off catching breakfast!”
Ferghas smiled. “Well, while you wait, would you like to help me find a curly shell? I hear they bring good luck.”
Together, they searched the beach, the seal pup sliding and splashing, Ferghas plodding and giggling. At last, they found a perfect spiral shell, glinting in the sun like a tiny treasure.
“Thank you,” Ferghas said, placing it gently in his satchel. “You’ve made this the best beach day ever.”
Just then, a sleek shadow appeared in the waves—Mum Seal had returned. The pup barked happily and wriggled into the sea.
Ferghas waved his tail. “Goodbye, little friend! I'll come visit again sometime!”
And with that, he trotted back into the pines, his heart as full as his shell pouch.
